New Uninsured Motorist Bill Waives Non Economic Damages For Uninsured Drivers
It appears that the Missouri Legislature is going to override Governor Nixon's veto of a bill that knocks out the right of an uninsured driver to recover non economic damages if he's involved in a wreck within insured driver. This waiver will not apply if the insured driver is drunk or stoned. While 20 per cent of all drivers in Missouri lack liability insurance, this new law may compel some drivers to buck up and get coverage.
Now Missouri needs to raise the minimum liability from $25,000 to $100,000. Minimum coverage is meaningless because a small wreck can swallow up the limits before you say boo.
