Tort Reform Makes Us All Less Safe

Before you decide, follow the money. Insurance companies do not care about us, they care about buying another ad during the Super Bowl or March Madness. Tort reform keeps more money in their pocket. Insurance companies know that if there is a limit on recovery, they can underwrite anyone and take premiums every month with the comfort that their exposure is only so much. More importantly, tort reform deprives citizens of the right to full compensation from the judicial system with legislative limits on possible recovery.
This seems like a conservative issue, ie. separation of powers, overreach of legislative branch, deprivation of constitutional rights. Instead, the deep pockets call the shots and turned the world against lawyers, when really all tort reform does is cheat those who are most horrifically harmed out of full compensation and make care provided even worse!
