Do not use a brain bucket. Get a DOT helmet if you ride a motorcycle!
Last week a may in Iron County died when his motorcycle struck a deer in the road just after sunset. The deceased rider was riding a novelty helmet, sometimes referred to as a brain bucket, when the collision occurred.
I have seen several enhanced head injuries when riders fail to use a DOT approved helmet. One never intends to get into an accident while riding. A deer in the road is unpredictable but the consequences were not.
It is better to be safe than sorry when you ride. For your family's sake, if you ride, get a decent helmet; one that's approved by the Department of Transportation.
